The Zoom body blues

So, we are approaching almost a year of the pandemic. Most of our clients are still working from home and/or learning from home. Our life has changed so much this year . Zoom has been a blessing in that we are able to keep working and gathering safely . It is also a curse. We are seeing the curse in our clients bodies. How is that Zoom life treating your body ? We are built to move not to sit and stare at a screen for hours on end. The most common ailments are back pain, hip pain, sciatic issues , stiff necks , migraines , and just overall an feeling of tightness/fatigue/stres. These were common problems before the pandemic, they have only multiplied by a million. Pilates could be the answer in helping you navigate these side effects from the Zoom marathons.

Why Pilates? Pilates is all about balancing the body through mindful movement. Sitting, driving, texting all day puts you in a constant state of flexion, this will cause big imbalances in the body. You need extension, lateral flexion and core strength in your life to balance it all out. Your spine needs to move in all directions!

As Joe Pilates said "You are only as young as your spine is flexible" . It's amazing what a few simple exercises done regularly can do to improve the imbalances in your body.

One of our favorite props to release tightness in the shoulders, neck and back is the foam roller. Many of our clients take little movement breaks throughout their day to reset their body and minds. Attached is a quick 10 min Zoom reset.

Think of this as therapeutic, it's not a "workout" it's a gift to help you feel better.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes!
